Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Who we are
ZESTEC-Services Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for the personal data described here. We are registered in England & Wales (company no. 16566434), registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU. For any privacy question, contact info@zestec-services.com.
We provide browser-based software tools (such as BMEcat Preview) and occasional technical consultancy in electrical, renewables and product-data work.
2. Your files stay with you
Our tools are client-side. When you open a file in a tool such as BMEcat Preview, it is read and processed by code running inside your own web browser, on your own device. Your files are not transmitted to us, not uploaded to any server, and not stored by us. When you close the tab, that data is gone from the tool.
3. What we do process
We keep our handling of personal data to the minimum needed to run the business:
Tool licensing
- Your licence key, which is checked against our licensing service to confirm it is valid and whether it is on trial or active. We may store a small flag in your browser's local storage so you don't have to re-enter the key each visit — this stays on your device.
Purchases and billing
- Payments for our tools are handled by Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record. They collect the information needed to take payment and meet tax obligations (such as your name, email and country). We receive limited order information from them to manage your licence. See Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy for how they handle your data.
Support and enquiries
- If you email or contact us, we hold that correspondence and your contact details to help you and keep a record.
Consultancy (only if you engage us)
- If you ask us to carry out consultancy, we process the information needed to do the work and manage the contract — contact and company details, project information and documents you provide, and invoicing details.
Website analytics
- Basic, aggregated usage data about how our website is used (see Cookies below).
4. Cookies and analytics
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Essential local storage. We use your browser's local storage only to remember that your licence is valid, so you are not asked for your key on every visit. Clearing your browser data removes this; you can restore access by entering your licence key again.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics, with IP anonymisation enabled, to understand in aggregate how the website is used. These cookies are set in line with your choices. Disabling them does not affect the tools.
5. Lawful basis
We process the data above to perform our contract with you (providing a licence, tool or consultancy), to comply with legal obligations (such as tax record-keeping), and for our legitimate interests in running, supporting and improving the business. Analytics is used in line with your consent. We do not sell your data.
6. Who we share data with
We share limited data only with the providers that help us run the service:
- Lemon Squeezy — payments, licensing and tax (merchant of record).
- Netlify — website hosting and the licence-check function.
- Google Analytics — aggregated website analytics.
We do not otherwise sell, rent or share your personal data.
7. International transfers
We process data in the UK where we can. Some of the providers above may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by an appropriate safeguard (such as a UK adequacy decision or Standard Contractual Clauses / an International Data Transfer Agreement). You can ask us for details of the safeguards in place.
8. How long we keep it
- Order and licence records: for as long as your licence is active, and as long as needed for tax and accounting (financial records are kept 6 years).
- Consultancy project files: typically 6 years from completion (the usual limitation period for claims).
- Support correspondence: a reasonable period, then deleted.
- Website analytics: up to 26 months (Google Analytics default).
After the retention period, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email info@zestec-services.com. We will respond within one month (extendable for complex requests, with notice), and may ask you to confirm your identity first.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data: connections to our website and licence service use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS); we work with reputable processors (Lemon Squeezy, Netlify, Google); and access to the limited data we hold is restricted. Because our tools process your files in your own browser, that data isn't transmitted to us at all. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; where the law requires it, we will notify you and the ICO of a qualifying breach.
11. Children
Our products and services are not directed at individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published here, with the date shown above. We'll note significant changes on this page.
